How To Make Raising Cane’s Chicken

Step 2: Marinate The Chicken

First, you’ll whisk the buttermilk, egg, and garlic powder in a large bowl. Then add the chicken to the marinade and soak the chicken tenderloins in it for at least 2 hours in the fridge.

Step 2: Bread The Chicken

Next, you can mix all the spices in a medium bowl and set it aside.

Then, on a rimmed plate, mix the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, bread crumbs, and the spices that you just mixed.

In a shallow bowl, mix the buttermilk with 1 tablespoon of seasoning blend.

Dip the marinated chicken strips in the flour, then the buttermilk, and then the flour again, ensuring it’s completely coated on all sides. Let the chicken rest on a plate while the oil is heating up.

Step 3: Fry The Chicken

Heat the canola oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. To test it, drop a little flour mixture into the oil. When it sizzles, the oil is hot enough.

Next, add the chicken strips to the hot oil and fry them for 3-4 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature is 165°F.

Serve the chicken hot with the Raising Cane’s sauce and fresh parsley.

My Recipe Tips and Favorite Variations

  • Make this recipe into chicken nuggets by chopping the chicken into smaller bite-sized pieces.
  • Cook the chicken with an air fryer at 350°F for 3-5 minutes on each side for extra crispy chicken. Check that the internal temperature is at least 165°F.
  • Pack the leftovers for lunch the next day. I love to make mine into a crispy chicken sandwich with pickles and sauce on a sandwich bun.

How To Store The Fried Chicken Tenders

To store any leftovers, place them in an airtight container or Ziploc bag in the fridge for 3-4 days.

If you want to keep them for longer, you can store the chicken in a freezer-safe bag for about 3 months. I love making a double batch and freezing the leftovers for when my cravings for crispy chicken tenders hit.

How To Reheat The Chicken

To reheat the chicken tenders, cook them in the air fryer or oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes, flipping halfway through. This will keep them just as crispy as when you first made them!
